Ms. Copeland is the head of the Family Law Group at Cooch and Taylor, P.A. She represents clients in all aspects of family law, including:
- property division, alimony, and separation agreements
- custody and visitation cases
- child support
- premarital agreements
- guardianship of children
- termination of parental rights
- adoption, and
- protection from abuse (PFA) cases.
Ms. Copeland has successfully represented clients in the Family Court in all three counties and in the Delaware Supreme Court. She puts her client’s goals and needs first and works closely with them to achieve solutions. Ms. Copeland has experience assisting clients in resolving complex family and financial issues. With years of experience in business before practicing law, Ms. Copeland is able to provide her clients with a unique and grounded perspective. Ms. Copeland is also available to mediate divorce and custody related matters for individuals who seek to resolve matters outside of court, and she has completed the Delaware Superior Court mediation training.
Ms. Copeland is a member of the Board of Advisors for the Delaware Law School. Ms. Copeland previously was a law clerk for the Family Court of Delaware. Ms. Copeland graduated summa cum laude from the Delaware Law School of Widener University and was valedictorian of her Extended Division class. Ms. Copeland clerked for the Delaware Supreme Court as a Wolcott law clerk for the Honorable Randy J. Holland during law school. She also assisted indigent clients through the Delaware Civil Law Clinic on matters of custody, protection from abuse matters and divorce. Prior to practicing law, Ms. Copeland worked as a financial and strategic planning analyst and launched and ran a business with her husband. Ms. Copeland is a Delaware native. She has volunteered on the board of directors and various other committees for many local non-profit organizations, including the Delaware Nature Society, the Fund For Women, Girls, Inc., and Faithful Friends.
